The MacNeillie Legacy From 2012... A New, Secure London Facility, Mot Testing, Plus Holistic Asset Management
The MacNeillie legacy from 2012 ... A new, secure London facility, MoT testing, plus holistic asset management, through life care service and wider technical support
MacNeillie is ready, fully prepared and under starters orders to deliver a significantly enhanced level of specialist service and support for its major customer fleets both during the Olympics and beyond. The company, Britain’s leading specialist bodybuilder and vehicle integrator serving the emergency services, defence and security sectors, has completed a substantial investment in additional facilities and capability, all of which has been commissioned during recent weeks.
The biggest single development is the creation of the company’s new, secure and fully equipped ‘MacNeillie London Operations Centre’ (MLOC) at a discreet location within the Greater London area. The facility will be available to service, repair, maintain or equip any of the extensive fleet of mobile assets based in the London & Southern regions of the UK. In addition to a full vehicle workshop, the centre has a specialist electrical and electronics area, parts storage and meeting rooms, the latter being suitable for project briefings and training.
The second major development is at the MacNeillie Walsall headquarters, where the company has commissioned a new, fully VOSA accredited MoT test bay. The facility is able to test any vehicle in Classes 1, 2, 4, 5 (lightweight) and 7, but because it is within MacNeillie high security premises, it will enable specialist, covert or fully marked vehicle testing to be carried out without the need to decommission and remove sensitive equipment beforehand.
In a further development, the company has expanded its after sales and field service resources, including an increase in its fleet of Client Support Units and mobile engineers. The overall programme will be known as MacNeillie Through Life Care (TLC) and is indicative of the company’s holistic approach to specialist vehicle asset management. In addition to comprehensive technical support, MacNeillie will be able to offer existing in-service fleet vehicle upgrades and asset ‘health checks’, either on site or at its own facilities in London and Walsall. Other services include scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, electrical testing to BS7671 or fully inclusive asset management packages, covering MoT testing and other compliance requirements.
MacNeillie Managing Director, Nigel Rowley says, “Quite apart from our planned programme of business expansion, we recognised that all the agencies and security firms we serve would be under extreme pressure during 2012, particularly at the time of the Olympics. We therefore built our plans around having everything fully operational for the very moment when every specialist asset they own will be required to be on heightened levels of standby readiness and full availability. Having the additional capability to work on specialist units within our own secure facilities – including covert and without having to strip out sensitive equipment – will offer both major benefits and added convenience for our end user clients, maximising availability and utilisation, minimising downtime and reducing costs”.
