ARLINGTON, VA--July 22, 2012: BAE Systems announced today that Dan Gobel has been appointed president of the Electronic Systems sector. Gobel succeeds Tom Arseneault, who recently was named executive vice president for Product Sectors and chief technology officer for BAE Systems, Inc.

“Dan is a well-respected leader with a deep understanding of both the commercial and defense electronics markets”

"Dan is a well-respected leader with a deep understanding of both the commercial and defense electronics markets," said Linda Hudson, president and CEO, BAE Systems, Inc. "I look forward to working with Dan to build on BAE Systems' position as a leading provider of creative and affordable products and solutions that address the needs of our customers."

Gobel previously served as the vice president and deputy general manager of the Electronic Systems sector. He served as president of the former Platform Solutions sector until that organization combined with the former Electronic Solutions business in 2011 to create Electronic Systems. He also served as vice president and general manager for the Electronic Combat Solutions and Advanced Platform Electronic Warfare business areas within Electronic Solutions and held leadership roles on advanced platform electronic warfare systems, including the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter concept formulation and system development and demonstration programs.

Before joining BAE Systems in 1992, Gobel held various engineering and program management positions at General Dynamics Corporation's Fort Worth, Texas, division.

The Electronic Systems sector has operations spanning commercial and defense electronics markets and offers a broad portfolio of mission critical electronic systems from flight and engine controls to electronic warfare and night vision systems, surveillance and reconnaissance sensors, mobile networked-communications equipment with anti-jamming capability and secure waveform architecture, and power and environmentally-friendly energy management systems. This sector is headquartered in Nashua, N.H., and employs approximately 12,000 people.
