SYDNEY – July 19, 2012: Ssangyong Australia is moving from strength to strength with the latest VFACTS data revealing a 30% year to date sales increase for the Korean carmaker with June figures also showing an 18% month on month increase. Ssangyong has achieved 1,001 sales during 2012 compared to 770 at the same time last year, an increase in part due to the successful introduction of the Korando compact SUV and the new Actyon Sports Dual-Cab Ute which have been well received by Australian car buyers.
The latest figures reinforce Ssangyong’s growing presence in the Australian car market and also demonstrate continued consumer confidence despite global economic concerns.
“The launch of the Korando in 2011 was a key milestone for the brand, giving us a great value-for-money option in the compact SUV market and our offering has remained very competitive. As a result there was a lot of expectation around the Actyon Sports Dual-Cab Ute launch in March 2012 but our figures for June show that we have delivered a vehicle that meets the demands of the customer,” commented Steven Thomas, National Sales & Marketing Manager, Ssangyong Australia.
Increased efforts to raise the profile of existing dealerships as well as to expand the dealer footprint throughout the country have also been instrumental in driving growth. Ssangyong will now look to build on this success with upgrade and relaunch of its Rexton SUV later this year.
“We recognise that we still have some way to go but our volumes are increasing at a steady and healthy rate and act as a testament to the fact that we’re producing vehicles with the customer in mind. For consumers who are looking for that value for money proposition, Ssangyong delivers,” concludes Steven.
