KleenSpeed Electric Race Car Sets New Record, Powered by UQM PowerPhase Electric Propulsion System

LONGMONT, CO--July 12, 2012: UQM Technologies, Inc. (NYSE MKT:UQM) congratulates KleenSpeed® Technologies on setting a new EV lap record at ReFuel 2012. This marks the fourth consecutive year the Kleenspeed team has set a new EV lap record at the event. The KleenSpeed EV-X11 electric race car is powered by a UQM PowerPhase Select® 145 electric motor and controller system. ReFuel 2012 is the 4th annual clean power motorsports event for electric vehicles.

The KleenSpeed EV-X11 electric race car was driven by Kevin Mitz of Rennwerks Motorsports in the Open Prototype class during the ReFuel 2012 event. The car beat its previous record by more than six seconds, for a new EV record lap time of 1 minute, 32.046 seconds on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In addition to setting a new lap time record, the KleenSpeed EV-X11 took first place in the Open Prototype class, beating a Tesla Model S Prototype and other vehicles. It also had the fastest lap time of all competitors in all classes.

UQM previously announced that it is also working with KleenSpeed on the company's World KAR platform that made its debut at the Stanford University 2012 Vehicle Concept Showcase.
