Silverstone, Jul. 6, 2012: American race car driver Conor Daly goes to Silverstone this weekend with just one mission to be accomplished - execute a clean race weekend on one of his favorite race tracks.

At the last two events, Monaco and Valencia, Daly received a 10 place grid penalty at each event for incidents during the races. The Valencia penalty, for a first lap incident that took him out of race two will be served in race one at Silverstone this weekend.

"You never want to get penalties for anything and I have had my fair share recently. I respect the FIA's decisions and will take my punishment and move on," said Daly. "We will have to make some strategic calls in qualifying that will be a little different at Silverstone because of the penalty but we will deal with it as best we can as a team. I have to do a better job and I'm ready to show that. Secretly, I actually hope it rains for three days as I think it will help me overall."

After winning on the opening weekend in Barcelona, Spain in May, Daly has suffered through multiple jump starts and race penalties that has slowed his early season momentum. He feels good going to Silverstone, as last year his race pace was 10 seconds faster than race winner, Lewis Williamson, but he started 22 seconds behind at the start because of a delayed pit stop at the end of the warm up lap to change from wet to dry tires. In pre-season testing at Silverstone, Daly was amongst the fastest each day so he very much looks forward to the challenge this weekend.

"Silverstone is just a great place on Grand Prix weekend. The British are great fans and the track is one of the fastest of the season," said Daly. "I know what I have to do and I look forward to the opportunity to do it."
