SYDNEY – July 2, 2012: Hyundai Motor Company has attracted record numbers to its UEFA EURO 2012 tournament Fan Parks across Europe, exceeding all expectations and offering fans a unique atmosphere to enjoy the ‘world game’.
With more than 1.6 million fans visiting the Hyundai Fan Parks so far during the tournament it’s no surprise the Group B match final between Germany and Denmark attracted more than 450,000 supporters to Fan Park in Berlin to cheer on the national team. The turnout represented almost 10% of the city’s population brought together through the Hyundai Fan Park program.
As the official UEFA EUROTOP partner, Hyundai Motor Company hosted Fan Parks located in seven cities across Europe from Madrid to Moscow for the duration of the UEFA EURO 2012 tournament.
The precincts provide an electrifying environment for fans to enjoy matches on impressive LED screens, measuring up to 60 metres square, giving supporters the best possible view of the games. Adding to the atmosphere, fans were entertained with Hyundai activities including football skills tests, the Digital Goodwill Ball and 3D graffiti.
Hyundai has been a partner of UEFA for more than 12 years, making EURO 2012 the fourth consecutive championship at which the company has played an active role. The 2012 partnership saw Hyundai deliver a fleet of more than 350 vehicles to transport teams, VIPs and tournament officials for use during the championship.
During the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, football fans enjoyed the same excitement when Sydney was one of only six global cities to host an official International FIFA Fan Fest. The month long celebration of football at Darling Harbour was proudly supported by Hyundai Motor Company, and played host to over 500,000 enthusiastic football fans and international team supporters from around the globe.
“The Hyundai Fan Parks have been an outstanding success and have well and truly surpassed our expectations,” said Oliver Mann, Marketing Director Hyundai Motor Company Australia. “Hyundai Motor Company has a long history, both here in Australia and in Europe supporting football, and it is encouraging to know the fans are behind our efforts to bring this passion and excitement to the many millions of fans the world over.”
