GOODWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – June 29, 2012: It’s that time of year again! Visitors to 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed will be treated to a feast for the eyes and ears, where spectators over the four days of the event can witness a whole host of cars and displays featuring a number of motorsport and automotive royalty.

Chevrolet is of course getting involved in the action with lots of exciting events over the course of the weekend. On Thursday, a few lucky visitors to the ‘Moving Motor Show’ have the chance to get behind the wheel of a Chevrolet and take either an Aveo, Volt or Camaro up the famous hill climb under the watchful eye of the Chevrolet pro-drivers. At Chevrolet’s main stand visitors can also get up close and personal with the Chevrolet World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) winning car.

As well as the exciting action taking place on track, Chevrolet will be showcasing its entire range of cars at its stand to celebrate the brand’s rich American heritage and reputation as one of the best and most recognised names in the motoring and racing industries.

So far, the new Chevrolet Aveo has been busy causing mayhem and finding some fun for itself with some extreme stunts. The car has completed a number of ‘firsts’ already this year, including completing a skydive, a skateboard-inspired Kickflip, a Bungee jump, a music video and a piece of edgy street art. This year’s Goodwood event will be no different! The ‘Aveo’s First Cliff-hanger’ will see the adventurous new Aveo towering over the famous Goodwood grounds, on display mid-abseil on the Chevrolet stand. Visitors to the area will be encouraged to take on their very own ‘first’ and abseil from 10m down the Chevrolet cliffhanger wall right next to the Aveo in mid-air!

There’s still lots of fun to be had for those with a fear of heights - the Corvette zone is another key part of the Chevrolet stand where 60 years of history and design of one of the most iconic cars to hit the road will be revealed. On display will be the Corvette C1 – the only C1 still on the road in the UK – and the Corvette 427.

“We’re very excited to be back at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, as it’s an event that Chevrolet enjoys coming to every year”, explains Rebecca Lawman, Head of Marketing, Chevrolet UK and Ireland. “This year Chevrolet has a whole host of exciting activities, displays and events for visitors to enjoy whether you are an adrenaline junkie, a petrol head or a future Chevrolet owner, so we are really looking forward to an action-packed weekend that will provide fun for everyone!”
