Volkswagen Jetta 118TSI is Australia's Most Affordable Medium Car to Own

SYDNEY – June 27, 2012: Volkswagen’s light-on-your-pocket Jetta 118TSI manual has just been announced as the least expensive car to own and run in the medium car category under $50,000 in the 2012 Car Operating Costs survey.

The nation’s leading motoring authorities conducted an operating cost survey covering over 1,500 vehicles in 17 popular categories.

The Survey includes costs that go with car ownership and are unavoidable if you own your own car, such as purchase price, depreciation, vehicle registration, insurance, fuel, scheduled service pricing and replacement parts over a 5-year period.

With its impressively low fuel consumption of 6.5l/100km the Jetta only puts you out of pocket $34.28 per week on fuel. The total weekly running costs came in at $175.28 or 60.76 cents per km.
