Pitchford's Career in Customer Care Spans More Than 25 Years

SAN FRANCISCO--June 7, 2012: Esurance, the direct-to-consumer personal car insurance company, has appointed Mark Pitchford to the position of managing director of sales and service, reporting to CEO Gary Tolman.

Pitchford will oversee the newly combined sales and service areas. The consolidation of these two teams under his leadership will enable Esurance to better meet policyholder's evolving needs, empowering customers with tools and information so they can make a smart choice about their insurance and be confident they are getting a great value.

Pitchford joined Esurance from Allstate, where he held the role of senior vice president of direct sales and service. Before his time at Allstate, Pitchford held senior marketing, sales, and customer service positions at Hanaro Telecom and Hanaro Media (in South Korea), Qwest Communications, and AT&T.

"Mark Pitchford's talents as a customer care executive are second to none. His years of experience make him a welcome addition to the Esurance senior management group, and he will play a big part in the ongoing success of Esurance," said Gary Tolman, CEO of Esurance.

Pitchford received an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in engineering from Harvey Mudd College. He also completed a graduate-level program on information networking at the Advanced Technology Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Pitchford has also served on the boards of multiple nonprofits, including the United Way of San Antonio, the Public Education & Business Coalition, Headfirst Magazine, and Colorado Steppin' Out for Kids.

Pitchford will be based at Esurance's San Francisco headquarters.
