Technology and Innovation Awards 2012
SYDNEY – May 30, 2012: The Motoring Matters Magazine Group, publishers of PowerTorque Magazine, has announced the winners of the PowerTorque Technology and Innovation Awards 2012.
The awards recognize the significant advances in safety, performance and ability made by the commercial vehicle manufacturers through innovative design and the introduction of new technologies in this highly competitive segment.
“Our first PowerTorque Magazine Technology and Innovation award goes to Hino Motor Sales,” said Chris Mullett, Managing editor and publisher of PowerTorque Magazine .
“The Hino 300 Series is the first light truck in Australia to incorporate vehicle stability control (VSC) as standard. The adoption of VSC plus the provision of an integral reversing camera system is a major contributor to advanced safety,”
“Add to these standard features further inclusions such as dual SRS airbags, four wheel ventilated disc brakes, electronic brake pressure distribution, anti-lock braking systems and integrated FUPS (front under-run protection on its wide cab models) and the company focus on safety becomes very evident,” he added.
The second PowerTorque Magazine Technology and Innovation Award for 2012 goes to Scania Australia for the R730 truck range.
“The awesome performance of the Scania R730 prime mover with its additional high focus on vehicle safety systems makes this vehicle a stand out performer in the Australian heavy truck market,” said Chris Mullett.
This combination of a 730hp engine and the Opticruise automated manual transmission improves efficiency while minimizing fatigue levels for the driver. It enables the operator to maintain consistent journey times over our national road network but does so effortlessly. A clear advantage for driver and vehicle safety,” added Mr. Mullett.
The awards were presented at the Melbourne Convention Centre to Hino Motor Sales and Scania Trucks Australia as part of the annual Motoring Matters Magazine Group Awards for 2012.
PowerTorque Magazine is published bi-monthly and is Australia’s leading magazine specialising in the heavy truck engine and driveline technology. The latest survey projection shows an estimated demographic of 90,000 readers.
