Ford Australia Designer Moves to Lincoln
MELBOURNE – May 29, 2012: Ford Australia designer, Peter Jones, has been appointed as an interior design manager for the Lincoln brand.
Jones takes up his new position in June and will be based in Dearborn, Michigan.
Jones has worked in the design studios at Ford Australia for seven years. Apart from his most recent work as interior design manager for the all-new Ranger, he was also lead exterior designer on the FG Falcon Ute.
“Peter’s appointment not only proves that Australian know-how is highly regarded within the Ford Motor Company but also shows that highly accomplished Australian university graduates can confidently compete on the global automotive stage,” said Christopher Svensson, Design Director, Ford Asia, Pacific and Africa.
Svensson said Ford’s internal global design competitions involving key new One Ford programs had highlighted a wealth of talented designers around the world.
“The natural evolution of this process is to rotate key talent throughout our Global Design Studios,” he said.
When Jones starts work in the United States, he will not be the only Australian working on Lincoln design. Fellow Australian, Max Wolff, is Lincoln’s director of design, having moved over to the luxury brand in January 2011.
Both Jones and Wolff are graduates of Monash University in Melbourne. Jones graduated from Monash in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Design.
