  • Teens ages 15-18 and their parents play for first time ever on THE PRICE IS RIGHT, which also features Ford Driving Skills for Life

For the first time ever, THE PRICE IS RIGHT with host Drew Carey welcomes teenagers ages 15 - 18 to be contestants with their parents on a show highlighting the importance of safe driving. The showcase winner of the program, which airs on Monday, May 28 on the CBS Television Network, receives a bonus prize of a Ford Driving Skills for Life event at his or her high school, which includes behind the wheel training, safety presentations with professional drivers, and a special school concert performed by singer/songwriter Kate Voegele ("One Tree Hill").

Each teenager and his or her parent compete as a team and, in another first for the show, have a chance to win a car in every game played.

To highlight the importance of safe driving, Ford Driving Skills for Life spokesperson Kate Voegele will award the showcase winner a bonus prize of a Driving Skills for Life event at his or her high school.

Celebrating its 40th season on the air, THE PRICE IS RIGHT, is the longest-running game show in television history and airs weekdays on CBS TV Network at 11 am €“ noon ET, 10 -11 am PT. The show premiered on CBS on September 4, 1972.

Teen drivers, mile to mile, are in three times as many fatal crashes as other drivers, claiming the lives of nearly 3,000 drivers aged 15-19 each year. The under-20 age group also has the highest proportion of distracted drivers involved in fatal crashes.

"Many teens are driving more miles in the summer," said Jim Graham, manager, Ford Driving Skills for Life. "Teens also drive with other teens in the vehicle, adding to the risk for these less experienced drivers."

Developed with the Governors Highway Safety Association in 2003, Ford Driving Skills for Life is recognized as the nation's most comprehensive driving skills program, with free professional driver instruction, state grants, and free materials for students, parents and educators. A Web-based curriculum including "The Academy" is available on www.drivingskillsforlife.com ; teens can test their knowledge and compete for prizes by taking a test after completing The Academy. Ford Driving Skills for Life has trained more than 500,000 new drivers through free online and professional hands-on driver instruction.
