Praxair Named for Third Consecutive Year as One of the Top Ten Clean-Tech Innovation and Climate Responsive Companies in US

Praxair

DANBURY, CT--May 11, 2012: Maplecroft Climate Innovation Indexes (CIIs), undertaken by risk analysis company Maplecroft, have determined that Praxair, Inc., is one of the top 10 leaders among the 360 largest U.S. companies in the innovation of clean-tech solutions and new products, the mitigation of climate change related risks and the management of carbon emissions.

“Praxair is honored to once again be included in this Index. It is a tribute to our applications that enable the development of clean technologies, including renewable energy and biofuels; and to the investments that we are making toward sustainable productivity”

According to Maplecroft, the CIIs will enable investors to identify the most resilient and innovative companies with the best long-term growth prospects. They do so by highlighting companies that are innovating products, services, processes or partnerships in order to re-shape markets and position themselves to succeed in the climate-changed, low-carbon environment of the future. Since the creation of the CIIs in 2009, the top rated companies have consistently outperformed their peers and competitors, as demonstrated by the index's performance on the Bloomberg terminal.

"Praxair is honored to once again be included in this Index. It is a tribute to our applications that enable the development of clean technologies, including renewable energy and biofuels; and to the investments that we are making toward sustainable productivity," said Riva Krut, Praxair's director of Sustainability. "The Maplecroft CIIs ask the right questions to determine how companies are positioning themselves over the long haul for the risk and opportunity presented by the challenges of climate change."

The Maplecroft CIIs are the single most exhaustive studies of the largest multinational U.S. companies and how they manage and adapt to climate change, with a special focus on innovation. Maplecroft rates each company against more than 100 criteria, including: technological innovation and new working practices to combat climate change impacts, management of climate-related issues, adaption to physical climate-related risks and the reduction of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions.
