Chrysler Group to Host Nobel Peace Laureate Lech Walesa at Jefferson North (Detroit) Assembly Plant

What:

Chrysler Group LLC Chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne, and UAW Vice President and Director of the Chrysler Department General Holiefield will host former Polish President and founder of Solidarity, the Soviet bloc's first independent trade union, Lech Walesa for a speech to its Jefferson North Assembly Plant employees.

Walesa will be traveling to Detroit from Chicago where he will participate in the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates. The World Summit is internationally recognized as among the most important annual events in the field of peacemaking, attracting hundreds of high-profile leaders and organizations around the world. The Jeep® brand is a sponsor of the Summit.

Walesa founded Solidarity in 1980 and went on to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983. He served as President of Poland between 1990 and 1995.

Marchionne and the former President will tour the assembly plant that produces the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. A photo opportunity will be available along the tour route.

Photo opportunity will be available along the tour route. Tour participants should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes with no higher than a 2-inch heel.

Media parking for the event is in the South Parking Lot located off of Jefferson Avenue.
