Citroen DS Line Success: 200,000 Sales In Two Years
PARIS – Apr 19, 2012: Just two years after its launch, the three-model DS line - consisting of DS3, DS4 and DS5 - has already sold over 200,000 examples worldwide, with 25,000 sales in the UK alone.
To celebrate the occasion, Citroën recently visited 10 cities across the UK with a selection of models from the DS line-up, giving away Easter eggs to the public. There was also a competition on Facebook and Twitter to win £200.
On 12 April, Citroën liveried a double decker bus with DS branding, which drove through central London escorted by a DS3, DS4 and DS5. With over 35 Citroën UK staff and a jazz band onboard to highlight the festivities, the bus stopped at numerous London landmarks along the route and members of the public were offered promotional gifts.
Frédéric Banzet, CEO of the Citroën brand, commented; “If there was one full-line carmaker that could be this audacious, it would be Citroën. Citroën is the only brand that could bring together a 2CV and a DS in its showrooms. The DS line challenge has proved an immense success, but Citroën does not intend to rest on its laurels, promising instead a surprise-filled future.”
The DS line will be launched this year in China and, to mark the event, Citroën has designed a new concept car, Numéro 9, which will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show. The concept signals the styling cues of the next three DS line models: a C-segment premium sedan, an SUV and a D-segment executive saloon.
