BorgWarner's Advanced Technology Improves Traction, Vehicle Stability and Comfort

AUBURN HILLS, MI--April 13, 2012:  BorgWarner's Torque-On-DemandŽ (TODŽ) single-speed transfer case provides active all-wheel drive for Ford Australia's Territory. Customized for Territory models with all-wheel drive, TOD technology harnesses BorgWarner's expertise in electronics, controls and vehicle-level integration to deliver a stable, comfortable ride with improved traction.

"As an active all-wheel drive system, BorgWarner's single-speed TOD transfer case combines the on-road handling of a rear-wheel drive sedan with the all-terrain capability of an SUV, giving Australians the benefits of two vehicles in one," said Joe Fadool, President and General Manager, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems. "BorgWarner is pleased to continue our long partnership with Ford, supporting their efforts in Australia with our global engineering and production capabilities."

BorgWarner's patented TOD transfer case uses a proprietary electronic control unit and software to monitor steering wheel angle and pedal position, automatically delivering the precise amount of torque needed to the front and/or rear axle. By predicting slip and providing pre-emptive torque, TOD technology improves vehicle dynamics, increases stability and enhances driver comfort, whether driving off-road or on-highway, in normal or difficult weather conditions.
