Memphis, April 9, 2012: Memphis International Raceway is excited to announce the Super Chevy Show the weekend of April 13-15 presented by Chevrolet Performance. The heartbeat of America will resonate throughout the crowd as Chevrolet enthusiasts and families experience the thrill of racing and enjoy the American heritage and craft of the automobile at this memorable event.

There is something for everyone to enjoy at the season opener of the Super Chevy Show Series at Memphis International Raceway. Spectators can experience both Chevrolet’s rich history and see the latest American cars that will be showcased in the car and truck show on Saturday and Sunday. Hundreds of classic, custom and new model Chevys will line Memphis International Raceway’s pit area.

On all three nights spectators can expect a steady clamor from the roar of race cars and jet engines as Jet Funny Cars and Pro Wheel Stander light up the night racing down the drag strip. Memphis International Raceway’s Pro Show line up cannot be matched featuring the Jet-Propelled World Record Holder, Rich Hanna and his “GOJO Firebird” Pontiac Jet Funny Car running at speeds of almost 300 mph. The GOJO Firebird will go up against the Speedcult Jet Funny Car driven by Freddy Sibley. Racing action on the drag strip will also include Nostalgia Dragsters, Pro-Mod Drag Racing, and a Fifth Generation Camaro Shootout.

The facility-wide event also boasts a vendor midway where event sponsors will display some of the latest automotive products and accessories available to owners of all Chevy-powered vehicles and a huge swap-meet and car corral on the west side of the championship drag strip.

Racers will get behind the wheel to battle in head-to-head drag racing in several races throughout the weekend. Racers can register for the True Street Challenge for a thirty mile cruise and three runs down the drag strip. There will also be a Run for the Money race first thing on Sunday morning for only $10 – the racer with the best package takes it all!

“Memphis International Raceway is a stop on the tour that has been vacant for the last two years and our racers, fans and partners are ecstatic about the Super Chevy Show’s return to the local market,” said Pam Kendrick, Vice President & General Manager of Memphis International Raceway. “With the opening on MIR in late 2011, putting a schedule together for 2012 that included the Super Chevy Show was a priority for our facility and community.”

With weekend tickets starting at just $35.00 for adults and single Day tickets $15 on Friday, $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday. Children 6-12 years of age are $5 and children 5 years and under are Free.
