Škoda Australia has announced a ground-breaking sponsorship deal with the Sydney Harbour Bridge which sees the world famous architectural icon renamed ‘Šydney Harbour Bridge’.

SYDNEY – Apr 2, 2012: The deal, lauded by NSW Roads & Maritime Services as the ‘future of road management solutions’, will see Škoda flags flying atop the remarkable structure in place of the traditional Australian National Flag, as well as the Czech brand’s winged-arrow logo in neon lights on the side of the famous arch.

Sydney-siders are also set to benefit directly from the agreement. Under the terms of the deal, anyone driving a Škoda between the magnificent towers will do so toll-free, a potential saving of thousands of dollars per year for anyone Simply Clever enough to own a Škoda.

Matthew Wiesner, General Manager of Škoda Australia, commented: “I have a dream that one day a Škoda will sit in the driveway of every home in Australia, and this sponsorship is the next step in realising that dream. Not only will our brand be in every Sydney-sider’s field of vision, but who can now ignore the savings owning a Škoda can bring. Soon, every car on the Bradfield Highway will be a Škoda.”

As part of the agreement, Škoda have provided a fleet of Octavias for use by maintenance and patrol staff, while a herd of Yetis will take the strain out of the popular Bridge Climb as thrill-seekers will now be carried to the top of the arch by Škoda’s class-leading 4x4 instead of tackling the arduous climb on foot.
