New President for Mitsubishi Motors Australia

SYDNEY – March 28, 2012: Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced the appointment of Mr Mutsuhiro Oshikiri to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL), effective April 1st, 2012.

Mr Oshikiri will replace Mr Genichiro Nishina, a long-time and highly regarded MMC employee, who has decided to leave MMC after a career spanning 32 years with the company.

Mr Oshikiri started with MMC in 1980 and has spent his entire career managing markets outside of Japan as well as operations of the company. He is currently President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Caribbean, and prior to that held the positions of General Manager of the North Asia B Department at MMC headquarters in Tokyo, and COO of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand. Importantly, Mr. Oshikiri has been appointed to MMAL twice in the past, once in 1987-92 and again in 2000-2003, the latter as Senior Executive for Sales and Marketing.

Announcing the appointment, Osamu Masuko, President of MMC, said “I am pleased to be able to appoint a new CEO such as Mr Oshikiri to our Australian office. He has extensive experience in overseas markets, in particular his previous experiences in Australia, will help his ability to continue to grow the Mitsubishi Motors brand in that market.” Mr Masuko also wished Mr Nishina, after a long and distinguished career with MMC, the very best for his future.

Mr Nishina reflected on his experience at MMAL, stating “My short tenure in Australia was quite challenging due to the natural disasters of 2011, such as the ones in Japan and Thailand. Nonetheless, I have found my time in Australia to be a most interesting and enjoyable period of my working career with Mitsubishi Motors. I would especially like to thank the entire Mitsubishi Motors employee family for your loyalty and co-operation during my Australian stay.”

Mr Oshikiri, looking forward to his third stint at MMAL, showed his enthusiasm: “I am looking forward to returning to Australia for my third assignment, this time as CEO. In 2012, we at Mitsubishi Motors Australia have a major but exciting challenge ahead of us, in preparing for the introduction of a range of all-new products which will commence later this year.”
