LOS ANGELES--February 15, 2012: Recargo Inc., developer of mobile applications for connected cars, today announced it has acquired privately held PlugInCars. Terms were not disclosed.

“Through this acquisition we will be able to help more people make better decisions about how they drive their daily life.”

PlugInCars.com is a popular news and community website providing coverage of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles by industry experts and early adopters, guides for buyers and car owners, and discussion areas for EV drivers to share their real-life experiences.

Launched in 2010 by founder and editor Brad Berman, PlugInCars.com attracted an average of 70,000 unique monthly visitors in 2011 and generates revenue through sales of online advertising. Breaking news from the site is already available in Recargo's app for EV charging. Recargo plans to expand and enhance the site's content while extending it to new platforms.

"Every year, more electric car models are being introduced and offered for sale by auto manufacturers around the world, so there's a tremendous need from consumers to understand better how they can benefit from this new technology," said Brian Kariger, CEO of Recargo Inc. "Through this acquisition we will be able to help more people make better decisions about how they drive their daily life."

Said Berman: "With the Recargo team's experienced leadership and considerable resources, PluginCars.com has a bright future and can play an expanded role in covering EV news, fostering community, and helping accelerate adoption of electric cars and plug-in hybrids. It will be exciting to see PluginCars.com reach the next level as the number of EVs on U.S. roads grows from several thousand today to more than one million in the next five years."

Recargo today also announced the release of its Android app for locating EV charging stations. As with the Recargo.com website and iPhone app, Recargo for Android enables users to drive their plug-in vehicles with confidence knowing they can find the closest charger at any time with just one tap. Photos and tips from community members aid users in selecting which charging station to use and how to arrive there, and trips can be planned using saved locations. Owners and enthusiasts keep current with the latest news from PlugInCars.com.
