Honda Models Make Greenest Vehicles List 2012 In U.S
TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – Feb 15, 2012: The Honda Insight, Civic Hybrid and CR-Z have been recognised by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) as the Greenest Vehicles of 2012.
The Civic Natural Gas (only available in the U.S) also featured and tied for second place in the Greenest Vehicles of 2012. The Insight ranked fifth, the Civic Hybrid eighth and the CR-Z eleventh.
This year marks the fourteenth consecutive year that multiple Honda vehicles have been named in ACEEE’s top twelve, highlighting Honda’s long history and commitment to fuel efficiency and low emission vehicles.
Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins, said the achievement further confirms Honda’s dedication to creating a cleaner future without compromising on the joy of driving.
“We are pleased to see Honda vehicles being recognised by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy for the fourteenth consecutive year. Honda is proud of its technological achievements that deliver products with lower emissions, increased fuel economy and fun-to-drive personalities for our customers,” Mr. Collins said.
After launching in December to the Australian market, the CR-Z, Honda’s sporty coupe, was crowned 2011 Wheels Car of the Year.
The all-new Civic Hybrid will be available in Australia at the end of the month.
The ACEEE ranking system uses a singular measure that combines fuel economy and health-related pollution impacts, as well as global warming and upstream emissions. Vehicles are analysed and given a “Green Score”, which is used to rank a vehicle’s total environmental performance.
Honda is the world’s biggest engine manufacturer, a leader in automotive research and development and consistently rated a top performer in customer satisfaction. There are more than 400,000 Hondas on the road in Australia and millions of happy customers worldwide.
