Renault's Angels & Demons are Naughty, But Nice
To celebrate St Valentine’s Day, Renault has launched the wickedest Clio R.S. yet.
SYDNEY – Feb 14, 2012: Ah, l’amour, and what better way to celebrate St Valentine’s Day than cosying up to a naughty little car that would melt the heart of the Marquis de Sade, charm a rosy blush into the cheeks of the Scarlet Pimpernel or carve a cutlass sharp curve into the attentions of Les Trois Mousquetaires?
And so to add sporty spice to this most romantic of dates, Renault is poised to launch two wickedly rorty, wantonly suggestive new Clio Renault Sport stove-hot hatches onto the Australian market.
The Clio R.S. Angel & Demon (or Ange & Démon en française) seductively embodies the amorous ardour of Renault Sport, rounded off with a naughty twist.
Its ’bad boy’ exterior is complimented by the acclaimed Cup chassis and 203 hp of grunt to take you beyond the daily grind.
Inside, this pleasure palace is lined with leather from the home of Recaro, adorning seats that hold you more firmly than a fresh lover’s embrace.
The Clio R.S. Angel & Demon is a debutante in more than one way, introducing a pair of enticing matt body colours to Renault’s line up in Australia: the angelic Matt Hologramme Grey or devilish Matt Toro Red.
The fiendish exterior looks are further enhanced by gloss black 18-inch Interlagos wheels, as seen on the late Mégane R26.R., enhanced by blood red Brembo brake callipers. The wheels display the R.S. badge in the centre and are shod with Bridgestone RE050A tyres, a first for Renault Sport in Australia.
These asymmetric, ultra-high-performance tyres incorporate dynamic sporty handling and a quiet, comfortable ride to meet the rigorous demands of prestige performance vehicles. The inner and outer tread design is derived from Bridgestone's winning Formula 1 technology and offers outstanding grip and responsive handling in both dry and wet conditions. On Mégane R.S. Trophy, these tyres contributed to the record set by Renault Sport on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The matt body colours are complimented by a gloss black roof, upper tailgate, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, F1-style blade in the front bumper, door handles and exterior door mirrors. The rear-side and tailgate windows are dark-tinted to complete the roguish style.
The loving interior ambience contrasts with the deliberately cold effect of the exterior. In addition to the Recaro bucket seats, there’s a unique metal gear lever knob, and a limited edition numbered plate lurking quietly under the hand brake. The cabin features a full range of comfort equipment including a hands free card, Bluetooth, multimedia connection box R.S. Monitor – Renault Sport’s on-board telemetry system, automatic climate control, protective floor mats, and electrically-folding door mirrors.
An optional Angel & Demon tattoo can be grafted onto the left hand side of the rear quarter window pillar to identify this limited series, of which there are only 666 copies for 15 markets worldwide.
Only 40 Angels or Demons have been allocated to Australia, with a manufacturer’s list price of $39,990. Nuptials are due to commence from March 2012. Don’t get left at the altar.
