SYDNEY – Jan 10, 2012: Last week at the Hyundai Hopman cup XXIV, a total of $35,000 was donated to the ‘Kids Tennis Foundation’ as a result of the Hyundai Aces program, a program driven by Hyundai Motor Company Australia.

The Hyundai Aces program saw Hyundai donate a hundred dollars for every ace served by players during official tournament matches. A total of 309 aces were served-up, bringing the donation pool to $30,900. Hyundai rounded the donation up to a total of $35,000.

The players who served the most aces in the tournament were Marion Bartoli from France and Spain’s Fernando Verdasco. Marion served up the most aces among the female players, serving up 29 aces, nine more than the second place Petra Kvitova. Fernando served up a total of 40 aces. Between Marion and Fernando they raised $6,900.

“This year’s Hyundai Hopman cup has again been successful, especially in terms of the Hyundai Aces program” said Heinz Wiesner, Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s Regional General Manager – Western Region. “We are very pleased to be able to contribute to a great cause like the Kids Tennis Foundation which makes a real difference to children’s lives.”

Hyundai considers the Aces Program as an important component of its Australian Corporate Social Responsibility program. Using tennis as a communication tool, Kids Tennis Foundation helps develop self-esteem and self-confidence in children who are socially or financially disadvantaged and whom otherwise may not get the chance to be involved in sport.

A cheque for $35,000 was handed over to Kids Tennis Foundation by Hyundai Motor Company Australia’s CEO, Edward Lee, on the last night of the tournament at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth.
