Kia Motors posts 22.8% global sales growth in November

- 220,037 Kia vehicles sold globally in November for 22.8% year-on- year growth

- November sales in Europe, North America, China, general markets and Korea post year-on-year sales growth of 40.9%, 36.7%, 33.4%, 25.7% and - 11.4%, respectively

SEOUL-- December 7, 2011 -- Kia Motors Corporation announced today its global sales figures (export sales, domestic sales and sales from overseas plants) for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles for November 2011, recording a total of 220,037 units sold. This figure represents a year-on-year increase of 22.8%.

In November, Kia posted strong double digit year-on-year sales increases in many of its major sales regions - 40.9% in Europe* (45,985 units sold), 36.7% in North America (41,861 units sold), 33.4% in China (48,689 units sold) and 25.7% in general markets* (44,471 units sold). November sales in Kia¡¯s home market of Korea declined by 11.4% (39,031 units sold).

Cumulatively, through the first eleven months of 2011, Kia¡¯s global sales have increased by 18.7% year-on-year to reach 2,264,262 units. North America has experienced the highest gain to date in 2011 of 33.8% (503,806 units sold) while the remaining regions have all shown cumulative year-on- year sales increases: 29.2% in China (414,475 units sold), 22.5% in Europe (441,573 units sold), 11.1% in general markets (456,461 units sold) and 2.0% in Korea (447,947 units sold).

Kia's best selling model in overseas markets for the month of November was the B-segment Rio (known as ¡®K2 in China) with 37,764 units sold. The C- segment Cerato (known as ¡®Forte in some markets) was the second best seller with 31,178 units delivered, while the Sportage compact CUV, Sorento mid-size CUV and D-segment Optima sedan followed with 30,148, 19,358 and 15, 483 units sold, respectively.

Tae-Hyun (Thomas) Oh, Senior Executive Vice President & COO of Kia Motors Corporation, said, “We have enjoyed strong sales growth throughout November, especially in Europe which has taken the number one slot for monthly sales among our major sales regions for the first time in 2011, thanks to the popularity of our recently introduced all-new Picanto and Rio. This momentum is expected to continue as the long-awaited all-new Optima will commence sales in Europe later this month.”
