Entries Open For Round Britain 2012 Land -21 June 2012

LONDON – Nov 21, 2011: Entries for RB12 LAND, the road going element of a unique 10-day marathon for cars, boats and aircraft are now open. RB12 is a new and unique event. Starting and finishing at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing events, on Wednesday 21 June 2012 it will be the first time 50 cars, 50 boats and 50 aircraft will compete around Great Britain simultaneously.

RB12 LAND is open to manufacturers, corporate teams, private teams and individuals and will see drivers and co-drivers pit their skills against their rivals over 10 legs, with stop-over locations at each. The route will comprise approximately 2500 miles with entrants circumnavigating, in a clockwise direction, the coastline of mainland Britain.

Entries are limited to a maximum of 10 places in three of the six classes: Vintage (Pre 1931 motor cars), Luxury (Post 1971 motor cars) and SUV (21st Century large SUV/4x4 motor vehicles) categories. While 15 places are available to each in the remaining three classes: Classic (1931-1970 motor cars), Supercar (21st Century two-seat, 400+bhp sports cars) and Green (21st Century EV, HEV, PHEV and Low CO₂ ICE motor cars) classes.

After pre-event assembly in Weymouth on Wednesday 20 June 2012, the following 10 days will take in stop-over locations at the following ports: Thursday 21 June, Weymouth to Falmouth, Friday 22 June, Falmouth to Swansea, Saturday 23 June, Swansea to Liverpool, Sunday 24 June, Liverpool to Campbeltown, Monday 25 June, Campbeltown to Kyle of Lochalsh, Tuesday 26 June, Kyle of Lochalsh to Wick, Wednesday 27 June, Wick to Edinburgh, Thursday 28 June, Edinburgh to Hull, Friday 29 June, Hull to Ramsgate, Saturday 30 June, Ramsgate to Weymouth.

At each of the 10 stop-over ports all LAND, SEA & AIR competitors will enjoy entry to the RB12 Evening Receptions. During each reception all competitors, together with special guests, will assemble for an enjoyable social evening with supper, entertainment and awards, presented to class and overall winners. The invitation is extended to the driver and guest.

At the start of each of the 10 days, two mystery challenges will be presented to each participant. These challenges will be unique to each of the six classes and will be individually tailored to the class/cars performance and ability, to test each competitor’s skills and vehicle ability.

The first challenge will be the Daily Time Trial Challenge – A set time window for participants to reach the day’s destination, individually set by Class. This will be issued, along with an official route road guide, prior to the event.

The second challenge will be the Daily Event Challenge – A mystery challenge given to each participant, to accomplish during that day's driving. This could incorporate driving ability tests and/or a route quest!
