SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA - Nov 7, 2011: Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea’s largest automaker, has reported a sales increase of 10.5 percent for the first nine months of 2011 over the same period a year earlier (September 2011 YTD v. September 2010 YTD).

A total of 2,949,914 units were sold worldwide in the first three quarters of 2011. Domestic sales totalled 510,228 units with overseas markets achieving 2,439,686 units.

Double digit sales growth in overseas markets was a main contributor to the increase in revenue and operating profit.

Under the banner of its new brand statement ‘New Thinking. New Possibilities.’, overseas sales increased 11.2 percent boosted by new model introductions such as Accent, Elantra, i40 Tourer and the much anticipated Veloster. Domestic sales rose 7.3% percent from the same period last year.

Hyundai Motor Company rose four spots to No. 61 in the Interbrand “2011 Best 100 Global Brands” ranking released in October. Hyundai was recognised as being the “Fastest growing Brand” for a second straight year. Interbrand calculated Hyundai’s brand value at US$6 billion (AUD $5.6 billion), a 19.3 percent increase over 2010, achieving the highest increase among automakers.

Globally, Hyundai Motor Company will continue to focus on qualitative growth.
