HELLA Designs Floral Light Sculpture of the new Range Rover Evoque
LIPPSTADT, GERMANY – November 4, 2011: Following the 2007 LRX study, Range Rover is bringing the production version of the small SUV onto the market with the new Evoque. The automotive supplier HELLA was responsible for the combination rear light design, developing the draft design for the design vehicle up to production readiness. The striking floral element on the combination rear lights is what really catches the eye. The impression of a flower is created by specially formed, coloured light transmitters. The red transparent colouring of the flat light transmitters in thick-walled optics is a distinctive feature. Such light transmitters have already been used as combination rear lights in the sport van of an American car manufacturer, but the colouring is a further technological milestone. The LED stop light also uses the tail light optics in combination with additional reflectors. A colourless cover lens has been added to bring the innovative coloured light transmitters to life, with sections offset in piano finish optics. The indicator and back-up lights, on the other hand, are based on conventional bulb technology. With the design of the Range Rover Evoque combination rear lights, HELLA has successfully followed the draft design of the LRX study while taking into account the demanding space requirements of the car manufacturer - in part by relocating the rear fog lights to the bumper as single-function lights.
