Turkey Prepares for Arrival of Electric Vehicle

KOCAELI, TURKEY – October 17, 2011: Kocaeli, a municipality of 250,000 inhabitants, is the fourth city in Turkey to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Renault-Nissan Alliance to prepare for the arrival of the electric vehicle.
Signing the memorandum on 12 October, the three partners – the Town Hall, Renault MAIS and OYAK Renault – committed to introducing a network of charging stations for electric vehicles.
The town hall is also to acquire five Renault electric vehicles for its service fleets. The Renault group’s fifth-largest market at end-September 2011 with sales of 100,000 units, Turkey produces Fluence Z.E. at the Renault plant in Bursa.
