Special Motorsports Event - Motorpoint's Seat Ibiza and Roger and Bod'ger Make It Through 15,000 Miles of Mongolian Desert
LONDON – Sept 15, 2011: Mongol Rally 2011 participants, Adrian Joubert and Roger Ashman, have just returned home after driving a Motorpoint car across 15,000 miles of desert, gravel and harsh Mongolian landscape, providing the ultimate road test for the Seat Ibiza 1.2l given to the fundraising team by the UK’s leading car supermarket.
Adrian and Roger, who chose the name Roger and Bod’ger, came to Motorpoint with the problem of finding a car to take part in the charity rally for under £800. According to the rules, the car had to be under 10 years old and have a maximum of a 1.2l engine.
Motorpoint stepped in to find a bright red Seat Ibiza from 2004 via its trade site, www.auction4cars.com, and the highly unsuitable for off road terrain car stood up well to challenge! Despite facing some problems along the way such as an unscheduled visit to a roadside ditch, the Seat made it across countries including Russia, Poland and Kazakhstan, before completing the rally in Mongolia.
The Ibiza proved itself to be a reliable and worthy Mongolian Rally car, having only needed one or two brake fluid top ups along the way.
Says Adrian Joubert: “It was fantastic. I’m still finding my feet after the journey and I’ve been back nearly a month. We both miss that Ibiza, it stood up to a massive amount of battering along the way. I think we both fell in love with that car and we’d like to thank Motorpoint for helping us out by providing it. We also raised over £1,000 for Christina Noble Children’s Foundation which is great. .”
Whilst the Seat Ibiza which participated in the rally has since been auctioned, Motorpoint still has a range of the clearly reliable Seat Ibizas in stock with prices starting from just £6,999! Check www.motorpoint.co.uk for more details.
