Pebble Beach, California, August 18, 2011—Lexus today held the world premiere unveiling of the next-generation "GS 350" here at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.  The all-new GS 350, due for launch in early 2012—and with GS hybrid and GS "F-Sport" versions also in the pipeline, is a pioneer characterizing the future of Lexus.

The fundamental requirement of the GS1 is to provide a refined and spacious atmosphere for comfortable travel at any speed over any distance.  The new GS 350 more than satisfies this requirement, with rapidly evolved performance and state-of-the-art technologies that further define the pleasure of ownership, the joy of driving and the feeling of luxury that resonates through the senses.

The signature spindle grille, with trapezoidal contours evolved from current Lexus styling, features the fusion of the Lexus-unique inverted trapezoidal upper grille and a trapezoidal lower grille with a functionally integrated brake-cooling duct.  This distinctive new front represents the future direction of Lexus front-end design.

The GS 350 marks the third major Lexus evolution following the "LFA" and the "CT 200h".   Not only does the GS 350's excellent handling and agility take driving performance to a new level, the peace of mind and joy of driving that it offers truly embodies the essence of a new generation of Lexus vehicles.

Vehicle Outline

The archetypical spindle grille was developed in pursuit of new possibilities for the L-finesse2 design philosophy to create the next-generation expression of the Lexus-brand's refined essence and powerful presence.

The 3.5-liter V6 2GR-FSE engine boasts a technologically advanced D-4S3 system along with a completely redesigned control system to offer world-leading performance4 in its class.

The completely redesigned platform features a newly developed suspension that dramatically enhances basic vehicle functions while simultaneously achieving exciting and superior cornering performance with a smooth-yet-solid ride.

The GS 350 offers three drive modes (Eco, Sport S and Sport S+) that allow drivers to indulge their spontaneity and adjust their driving style at will according to the driving conditions and their preferences.

The Sport S+ mode builds upon the powertrain enhancements of the Sport S mode by engaging handling enhancements of the adaptive variable suspension, steering system, and vehicle stability control (VSC) to give drivers heightened control of the vehicle to complement their individual steering style.

Reassessment of driver position and driver-seat design contributes to the maintenance of a straight and comfortable driving posture better for long trips, while the rear-seat space and features have also undergone significant refinement.  Thus, the GS 350 provides the luxurious hospitality that lies at the core of the Lexus philosophy to all occupants.

To maximize the benefits of a complete platform redesign, the footprint of the rear-strut tower bar on the cabin was reduced and the trunk opening enlarged to achieve a class-leading4, voluminous cargo space with excellent ease of loading and unloading.

An optional large 12.3-inch navigation display, an industry first5, facilitates the effective display of more information while maximizing ease of use and visibility.

And for the first time in a Lexus-brand vehicle, the GS 350 will feature an analog clock with LED indicators, thus giving the typically leading-edge Lexus interior a traditional highlight.
