Skoda Achieves Record July Sales And Delivers More Than 500,000 Vehicles Year-To-Date

MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – Aug 11, 2011: In the first seven months of 2011, Škoda delivered 523,200 vehicles worldwide, representing a 19.7% increase when compared with the same period in 2010 (January – July 2010: 437,300 vehicles).

Cementing the strong sales result was a record July with 68,500 vehicles sold (2010: 58,500).

“Škoda remains in the fast lane,” said Jürgen Stackmann, Škoda board member for sales and marketing. “Regions such as China, India, and even Russia reported significant growth in July. We also continued to record strong sales with our attractive model range in the established markets of Western and Eastern Europe.”

In the UK, Škoda is on course to record its most successful year ever with more than 3,300 vehicles registered in July, an increase of more than 10% when compared with the same month last year.

In its home market of the Czech Republic, Škoda recorded an increase of 9.6% in July when compared with the same month in 2010.

The brand also recorded growth in other countries of Central and Eastern Europein July. In Ukraine, sales rose by 54.8%. Slovenia grew by 9.3%, Poland by 3.7%, and Croatia by 4.0%.

In Western Europe, Škoda recorded an increase of 24% with sales of 27,200 vehicles in July alone.

In the Netherlands and Austria, Škoda increased sales by 53.2% and 36.8% respectively. In the German market, Škoda was able to increase its market share as the most popular imported brand. In Belgium, sales rose 23.8%, in France 22.6%, and in Switzerland 13.2%.

In the emerging markets of China, India, and Russia, sales grew significantly. In China, Škoda deliveries increased 15.4% to 17,800 vehicles in July. In Russia, Škoda achieved its third best monthly result with 6,100 deliveries (+22.7%). In India, Škoda has improved last year’s sales by 70.1% with 2,300 vehicles sold year-to-date.
