Hyundai Market Share Toughened Up By iLoad
SYDNEY – Aug 4, 2011: Hyundai Motor Company Australia finished in fourth position overall with 7,226 sales, achieving a market share of 8.9% in July. The sales result saw an increase of +10.6% July 2011 v. July 2010 in a market which was down -1.7% over the same period.
In passenger car sales, HMCA ranked fourth for the month with 5,174 vehicles sold and a market share of 11.3%.
The multi-award winning Hyundai iLoad van range placed first in the van segment with its best-ever monthly market share result since launch of 40.3%. iLoad achieved 639 vehicle sales. ix35 ranked in second place in the SU V compact segment with 1,063 sales; and iMax finished the month with 162 units sold, ranking it second in the people mover segment.

Meanwhile,overseas, Hyundai Motor America (HMA) has announced a July sales figure of 59,561 vehicles, a +10% increase compared with the same period a year ago. This represents an all-time sales record for both the month of July and the first seven months of the year for HMA. The strong July result was buoyed with robust sales of all-new Accent and all-new Elantra and i45 (sold as Sonata in the U.S.).
Hyundai Motor Company has seen an overall increase in global sales of +9.8% rising from 294,879 in July 2010 to 323,637 in July 2011. Its domestic sales also increased by +22.4% (July 2011 v. July 2010).
