EDMONTON, July 25, 2011: Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing (NNCGR) driver Charlie Kimball finished 19th in the Edmonton Indy.
Kimball turned his first laps on the new Edmonton City Centre Airport track layout on Saturday after INDYCAR officials were forced to cancel Friday’s practice session due to inclement weather. After two one-hour back-to-back practice sessions on Saturday, the IZOD IndyCar Series rookie qualified 21st for the 80-lap race on the 2.256-mile street course.
The Novo Nordisk team took the green flag for the Edmonton Indy and managed to dodge multiple incidents during the first laps of the race. Kimball was running in the top-20 when a flat left rear tire would cause him to make an unscheduled pit stop on lap 30. The No. 83 continued to battle for track position while running consistent laps and crossed the finish line in 19th-place.
