Rahal on Edmonton: “I’m excited to get back in the No. 38 Service Central car in Edmonton. The Service Central team put together a fast car in Toronto, we just had an unfortunate end after a very strong run all weekend long. I’ve raced at the Edmonton City Centre Airport three times in my IZOD IndyCar Series career, posting my best finish of third at the course in 2007. Our focus is the same this weekend as it is every race weekend - to run up front so we can continue to move up in the points championship.”
Road Course Qualifying: Rahal matched his best qualifying attempt of season in Toronto with a fifth-place starting position. He posted his first top-five qualifying run in Sao Paulo resulting in his first appearance in the Firestone Fast Six.
He’s on a Roll: Rahal has been scored “running at the finish” by INDYCAR officials in 19 consecutive races, the longest running streak in his IZOD IndyCar Series career.
Lap Leader: Rahal led 23 of 85 laps in the Honda Indy Toronto, the most laps he has led in a single event in his career.
A+ Lap Average: The Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing team has completed 98.71% of the 1,318 laps ran this season with three top-fives and four top-10 finishes.
Age is just a Number: At 22, Rahal is the youngest regular competitor in the IZOD IndyCar Series and has recorded 69 starts, two poles, one win, 15 top-fives and 35 top-10s.
In the Points: Rahal holds eighth-place in the IZOD IndyCar Series points standings, 145 markers behind overall leader Dario Franchitti.
Toronto Recap: Rahal matched his season-best qualifying effort with a fifth-place starting position for the 85-lap race. The Service Central team took over the lead on lap 49 and preserved the position for 23 laps while focusing on fuel conservation. With less than 10 laps to go, Rahal was battling for third place when another car made contact with him causing the No. 38 Service Central car to spin, fall to the back of the field and cross the finish line13th.
