Motorsports Venues - Hollywood Stuntman Making Special Appearance At Firecracker 150

KYLE, July 1, 2011: Hollywood stuntman, speaker and author, Sammy Maloof will be making a special appearance at the On Track Xperience (OTX) Grand Opening Celebration at Thunderhill Raceway (Kyle, TX) this Saturday, July 2. This day-long event, that’s co-hosted by Thunderhill Raceway, will also include the inaugural Firecracker 150 Kart Endurance Race, along with a Car Show, live music, “Arrive and Drive” NasKart runs, rides with Maloof, on-track demonstrations by NASCAR race cars, Street Runs (street cars that can be run on the race track) and plenty of food and drinks for the entire family.
Maloof has just returned from doing stunts earlier this year opposite Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 4. He has also done stunts in numerous movies, TV shows, commercials and music videos – including The Fast & The Furious, Spiderman 2, Gone in 60 Seconds and Rush Hour, just to name a few.
During Saturday’s event, Maloof will be putting on a “Hollywood Style” demonstration in a custom built 5.0 Mustang, fully-caged, with a special braking system. This stunt car was built by Maloof Racing Engines, and it sports a beautiful custom paint job by Custom Touch Graphics (Austin, TX). It is maintained by Infinity Conversions (Austin, TX) and was donated to Abundant Faith Church (Round Rock, TX) so Maloof could return every year to put on events for the surrounding communities.
Maloof has a unique way of motivating people to overcome obstacles in their lives. His message is life-changing, especially for teenagers who are at a critical moment in their lives looking for direction. He has also founded “Winning at the Race of Life,” a non-profit organization. Maloof is currently in the process of developing his own reality TV show, which will be geared towards keeping kids away from illegal street racing.
In the spirit of Maloof’s mission, fans will be given the opportunity to join in the first-ever Thunderhill Raceway Street Runs beginning at 12:00 pm (noon) and running throughout the day. The general public can take their street cars off the streets and onto the racetrack for laps on the 3/8-mile, D-shaped asphalt track. The runs will be timed using the track’s official electronic scoring system.
Also on the agenda is an on-track, full speed demonstration by several of Thunderhill Raceway’s very own NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, and Super Stocks, followed by a feature race showcasing the NasKart Pro Racing Series that regularly competes at Thunderhill Raceway.
The exciting First Annual Firecracker 150 is scheduled to start right after the 7:00 pm opening ceremonies. It will feature 12 teams with five drivers on each team – all competing in NasKarts at speeds up to 65 mph. A total of $10,000 will be up for grabs in this 150-lap endurance race.
Spectator gates will open at 11:00 am, and general admission for Saturday’s event will be $20 per car or truck load and $25 for RVs.
