ATLANTA--June 8, 2011: Hughes Telematics, Inc. (“HTI”), a leader in providing next generation connected solutions, today announced that its aftermarket solution, In-Drive®, was named winner of the Best Aftermarket Device or Solution for 2011. The award recognizes an aftermarket product that has demonstrated innovative services and solutions in the telematics field, and it was announced at a reception preceding this year’s Telematics Detroit conference.

“We look forward to a very productive 2011 as we announce additional relationships and bring these solutions to market.”

“We are honored to have received this award and be recognized for the innovation we have built into In-Drive, our aftermarket solution,” said Fred Blumer, vice president of aftermarket and data services, HTI. “We designed In-Drive to be a robust solution with the flexibility to offer a significant number of configurations for consumer and commercial applications, and we feel this award is recognition of our success and direction.”

In-Drive is a simple, self-installed device and provides drivers with a comprehensive set of connected vehicle services. These features include real-time diagnostics feedback, vehicle trip statistics, emissions and miles per gallon, stolen vehicle location, family monitoring, and two-way emergency calling and automatic crash notification, among others. In-Drive is compatible with most vehicles sold in the United States after 1996.

HTI has already secured well-known clients from the insurance and financial services industries. Plans are in place to market and launch these solutions during the balance of 2011. These companies will be utilizing In-Drive’s large volume of available data and diverse connected services to meet their unique needs.

“Aftermarket telematics is experiencing tremendous growth as the industry develops solutions to address the 250 million vehicles in the US that are not connected. In-Drive is a pioneer in the development of this market and to be recognized as the best aftermarket solution is a great honor for the HTI development team,” added Blumer. “We look forward to a very productive 2011 as we announce additional relationships and bring these solutions to market.”

In March of this year, In-Drive was named winner in the Enpact category for the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2011 Environmental Awards, based on its eco-friendly features. In-Drive will be commercially available in late 2011.
