FYI: Hyundai Buyer's Guide

BEAVERTON, OR--June 6, 2011: AVnu Alliance, an industry forum dedicated to the advancement of the audio/video bridging (AVB) standards, is pleased to welcome three new promoter members from the automotive industry--Hyundai (Hyundai Motor), Renesas, and Texas Instruments.

“We look forward to an exciting shared vision for AVB within the car.”

“AVnu Alliance is very proud to welcome Hyundai (Hyundai Motor), Renesas, and Texas Instruments to the alliance. Hyundai (Hyundai Motor) is a recognized for their engineering excellence and deep system knowledge, and Renesas and TI are very experienced as top-tier automotive silicon suppliers. Together they will be welcome additions within our automotive working groups,” states Rick Kreifeldt, chairman of AVnu Alliance and VP Global Automotive Research and Innovation at HARMAN. “We look forward to an exciting shared vision for AVB within the car.”

“We at Renesas, with our extensive experience in microcontroller businesses for the automotive industry, are excited to be members of the AVnu Alliance for upcoming in-vehicle innovations,” states Hiroaki Kaneko, general manager of Automotive Systems Division, Renesas Electronics Corporation. “The automotive industry has introduced and adopted several network technologies, and now there is a need for a network that could serve converged communication in a vehicle. The AVB technology, along with other 802.1 standards, provides a high-bandwidth, real-time, fault-tolerant, and secure network, which meets the anticipated future in-vehicle system requirements.”

Brad Ballard, marketing manager, Audio and Infotainment BU, Texas Instruments adds, “Texas Instruments has a broad market presence enabling entertainment electronics in consumer and automotive products. Both segments are seeing significant growth in media shared over high data-rate networks. TI hopes to increase performance and ease-of-use of networked devices by participation in the open standards process through its membership in the AVnu Alliance.”

The AVnu Alliance has recently posted a contributed whitepaper titled “Requirements for Automotive AVB System Profiles” coauthored by Renesas, Toyota, Broadcom, and NEC. Learn more by visiting: http://www.avnu.org/resource_library
