CHICAGO--May 27, 2011: The Risk Control unit of CNA insurance companies recently announced the June webinar series for its School of Risk Control Excellence®. Offered on a complimentary basis to CNA producers as well as existing and potential policyholders, this month’s webinars are focused on risks faced by construction companies. There is also a course on driver distractions, which applies to any business that uses vehicle fleets.

Following are the webinar topics as well as the corresponding times (all in Eastern Time). To register for a course or learn more about educational opportunities with CNA Risk Control, please visit CNA RC Education or call 866-262-0540.

June 2, 2 p.m. --Understanding OSHA 1926.1419-1428 Signal Person Qualification Requirements

The goal of this webinar --which will provide information and training tools for the qualification requirements of signal persons --is to help participants promote job safety and gain a better understanding on how to meet OSHA requirements. In addition to receiving information for use when conducting classroom training and a sample practical exam, participants will also receive CNA resources to help them learn how to comply with these standards.

June 9, 10 a.m. --Preventing Rear-end Vehicle Accidents: Distracted Driving and In-Cab Policies

Accidents are often caused by distracting driver behaviors such as eating, drinking, smoking, listening to the radio and completing paperwork --all of which can affect the cognitive ability of the driver. This webinar will help participants identify driver distractions and review controls to help prevent these distractions in order to, ultimately, prevent crashes.

June 9, 2 p.m. --Understanding OSHA 1926.1400: Crane Standard Overview

OSHA’s new rule covering cranes and derricks in construction is a comprehensive reform of the crane standard which, as a whole, can be overwhelming and confusing. This webinar will help participants better understand this standard’s incorporated dates, certification requirements and allowable types of training, as well as provide timelines for various requirements of the standard.
