MiX Telematics Announces Enhanced Safety and Regulatory Compliance Features on Mix Display

DALLAS--May 16, 2011: MiX Telematics (JSE:MIX), a global provider of vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, recently introduced updates to its MiX Display, including real time audible in-cab driver coaching, driver identification hours of service keys and optional in-cab navigation software. Designed to report real time data and driving behavior to MiX Telematics' FM-Web application, the multi-purpose display enables fleet operators to boost communication that improves driver safety, as well as vehicle and fleet performance.
“From this web-based application, fleet managers can review dangerous driving patterns in real time, as well as track driving trends over time through the driver score cards. This solution allows operators to review any employee's driving history and correct unsafe behaviors before the driver becomes a danger to other motorists.”
"Our MiX Display is connected to the MiX FM Communicator that collects driver behavior data and sends the information to our online FM-Web application," said Brian McCoy, vice president of business development for MiX Telematics North America. "From this web-based application, fleet managers can review dangerous driving patterns in real time, as well as track driving trends over time through the driver score cards. This solution allows operators to review any employee's driving history and correct unsafe behaviors before the driver becomes a danger to other motorists."
As the pioneers of Driver Behavior Modification Solutions, MiX Telematics also promotes driver safety with its enhanced audible in-cab coaching. MiX Display's in-cab visual and audible alerts notify a driver when they are driving recklessly, enabling the employee to take immediate corrective action. The six verbal commands help reduce poor driving behaviors, including speeding, over revving, hard braking, harsh acceleration, excessive idling and out of green band driving.
MiX Telematics also introduced the MiX hours of service driver key, which acts as a back-up to the server by storing timely and important data. This feature, which is unique to each driver and collects data from the MiX Display, allows drivers to stay compliant with Department of Transportation regulations even when the vehicle is out of communication coverage.
An optional navigation capability is available to fleet owners, which provides turn-by-turn visual and audio directions and takes truck and road constraints into consideration. The result for commercial fleet operators is improvements in driver performance, efficiency and customer service.
"Our updated MiX Display is designed to assist fleet operators with collecting and consolidating hours of service data, as well as providing a safer driving atmosphere for everyone on the road," concludes McCoy. "As a leader in the field of fleet management solutions, MiX Telematics is setting the bar for drivers across North America and allowing fleet customers to achieve their highest operating standards."
