Hafey Drives Jeep 70th Anniversary Tribute
SYDNEY – May 6, 2011: Inspirational footy legend, Tommy Hafey, will be the face of the Jeep brand’s 70th anniversary celebration with a special commemorative 60 second television commercial to be aired from Saturday 7th May.
The commercial features 79 year old, former Richmond player and coaching legend Hafey setting out on his daily training session at the crack of dawn on the shores of St Kilda (a ritual he has undertaken for decades and something he is well-known for around the bayside area of Melbourne).
2011 marks the celebration of 70 strong years of Jeep heritage (stemming back to the early 1940s when Jeep was the first 4WD to be driven on Australian terrain). To mark this celebration, Jeep has embarked on a wide-spread ‘Don’t Hold Back’ challenge to revitalise every aspect of its business.
Sam Tabart, General Manager of Marketing at Chrysler Australia said; “Tommy Hafey’s zest for life and no-nonsense attitude to embrace each and every day really struck a chord with us at Jeep. He represents the life of a 70 year old, having achieved so much, but - like Jeep - has no intention of slowing down in any shape or form”.
“His inspirational outlook and fighting-fit physique clearly embodies our Jeep ‘Don’t Hold Back’mantra. We simply couldn’t find a more fitting ambassador to help celebrate this significant milestone for Jeep and the legacy created.”
Tommy Hafey said; “This is a great opportunity for me to reach out to people on my quest to inspire passion and motivation in all Australians. ‘If it is to be it is up to me’ is something I am always relaying to the kids, but most importantly, I ask them to put a big circle around the word ‘me’. That’s the real key to success, just get out there and commit 100% to life, don’t hold back.”
In the spirit of creating an iconic, superior 4WD experience, Jeep has also released a commemorative range of 70th Anniversary Limited edition models, fully-loaded with features including a stainless steel mesh grille, power sunroof, premium leather interiors and more.
A completely revitalised line-up of 2011 Jeep models, including the multi-award winning Grand Cherokee, coupled with solid financial backing of global automotive giant Fiat SPA, has seen Jeep redefine itself to become a growing force in the sports utility vehicle market, where it will inevitably continue to make record breaking sales.
The commemorative advertisement will be broadcast across Victoria, but can be viewed online by visiting Jeep Australia’s Facebook page; www.facebook.com/jeepaustralia or www.jeep.com.au.
