VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – April 29, 2011: Renault Australia has announced the appointment of a new General Manager, Network Development.
John Whalley, a highly experienced automotive specialist, joined Renault on April 11, having previously worked for Deloitte Motor Industry Services Australia, as well as high profile prestige European and Japanese car companies in Australia.
Commenting on the arrival of John Whalley, Renault Australia Managing Director, Justin Hocevar said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome someone of John Whalley’s stature to the revitalised Renault team.
“John has many years of experience and an excellent track record in this field. Renault Australia is currently in a period of strong growth and aims to substantially increase its footprint in Australia. Naturally this will involve an in-depth look at our market coverage, specifically in New South Wales where our brand has not been performing to a level we know it is capable of.
“In addition we hope to extend access to our growing array of very attainable, family-oriented vehicles to a wider audience in Australia and John will be primarily responsible for ensuring we establish dealer operations in these areas,” Justin said.
Commenting on his appointment to the role of General Manager Network Development, John Whalley said: “With such a long and rich history, the Renault brand has fantastic potential in Australia.
“My first key job will be to redevelop the Sydney and Brisbane networks as two of the three largest markets in Australia. In addition, I will be focusing on rebuilding confidence in the brand from the dealers’ perspective.
“In my experience the three key factors in building a successful network of dealerships are experience, funding and location. Ultimately, it is all about looking after each and every customer and having great staff to support their needs.
“The ultimate measure of our success will be the achievement of sales volume expectations, but what our customers and dealers tell us is also a key barometer of the job we are doing.”
