TALLADEGA, April 14, 2011: After negotiating the 22nd fastest time in practice Thursday, Sean Corr and his Empire Racing LLC. team qualified a solid 20th setting the tone for tomorrow’s 3 Amigos 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, the second of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule.

In their first full season of ARCA competition, Corr and his team led by recently appointed crew chief Howard Bixman have steadily made progress during the day at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. In time trials, Corr maneuvered his silver No. 82 blue oval around the facility in 53.176 seconds or 180.081 miles per hour.

After climbing out of his automobile during his two-lap hustle, Corr immediately showed optimism and energy for tomorrow’s anticipated thriller.

“I think we’ll have a good race,” said Corr, a native of Goshen, New York. “The Empire Racing team has busted their tails to gain some speed in our car and they have done an excellent job with that today. Howard (Bixman) and John (Bellesfield, team manager) were able to come up with a game plan and it has worked. I think the car will draft well tomorrow, we’ll just have to stay out of trouble and be around for the end, like we were in Daytona.”

In last year’s Talladega ARCA event, Corr qualified his automobile 25th and brilliantly drafted his way into the top-five before the “big one” unleashed itself right in front of the avid dirt competitor. While the finish was less than accepting, Corr is satisfied in knowing again that he’ll have a car that he believes will be able to make it to the front.

“Roush Yates has given Empire Racing some great horsepower and I believe we’ll have a car that will take us to the front again tomorrow. 94 laps is a lot for a big place like Talladega. Staying on your toes, knowing who you’re racing and trying to stay out of the big one will all be crucial towards a good finish.

We kept our nose clean and left Daytona with a 15th place finish, but I’m hungry for more. A top-10 would be great. A top-five would be excellent. And well, a win at Talladega? That will result in some heavy celebrating with this great team!”

A short happy hour final practice session has been etched in for competitors tomorrow but the Empire Racing team has not fully decided if they will participate in the run.

Before the race take the green flag on Friday, the team will make a “booming” announcement.

The 3 Amigos 250 (94 laps / 250 miles) is the second of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 49th ever ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway is a two-day show. A 45-minute final practice has been etched in on Friday, April 15 from 10:00 a.m. – 10:55 a.m. The event will take the green flag that afternoon shortly after 4:00 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional live broadcasting available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com in collaboration with Alabama’s local WTDR Thunder 92.7 FM. All times are local (Central).
