Calderon Signs With Derek Daly Academy

Indianapolis, Apr. 8, 2011: It was announced today that seventeen-year-old Colombian race car driver, Tatiana Calderon, has signed a management and career development agreement with Derek Daly Academy (DDA). Calderon’s primary program this season with be the Formula Star Mazda championship presented by Goodyear.

“I read Derek’s book and decided that I wanted my career to have that type of support”, said Calderon. “I know how difficult this sport is, and for that reason you need to have people who know the environment and who have all the experience helping you make the right decision at the right moment. I believe DDA has the right elements to help me develop as a real driver, which means so much more than only being fast. I am sure this will take my career to a different level”.

Calderon is part of the growing number of talented female drivers who have demonstrated exceptional ability through the karting ranks and during their transition to race cars. “Because she is so young, Tatiana has a lot to learn but she clearly possesses that key magic ingredient - the ability to go fast,” said Derek Daly, President, DDA. “Teenagers need to start learning certain performance disciplines as soon as possible after they make the transition to race cars. They then carry those disciplines with them forever. Our program relies on certain key principles with the mission being to remove hope from being a significant part of Tatiana’s success strategy”.

Derek Daly Academy was founded in 1996 and operated a race school at the Las Vegas Motor speedway until 2005. In recent years DDA has specialized in driver management and career development. Because this is such a specialized and time consuming sport, DDA will only make the program available to a select few each year. Its principles of success are based on Derek’s best selling book, Race to Win.
