LAKE MARY, FL--March 25, 2011: "We are all compelled to respond to this tragedy of historic proportions," said Koji Hasegawa, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas, Inc. (MPSA).  Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and its group companies are donating 500 million Yen (about $6.2 million U.S. Dollars) to assist humanitarian efforts now underway aiding thousands of Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims.  MPSA is supporting that initiative by donating directly to the American Red Cross, requesting that the funds be specifically earmarked for emergency housing, medical care and clothing so that disaster survivors may begin to rebuild their lives.

"Many people working here at MPSA have expressed their deep personal concern regarding the recent disaster in Japan and many have expressed a wish to contribute to the relief effort.  Their individual contributions will be added to the MPSA corporate donation to the Red Cross as part of our ongoing efforts to assist the rebuilding of shattered communities in a meaningful way," explained Mr. Hasegawa.

In a statement issued by MHI, the company said the MHI group contribution of some $6.2 million reflects its "grave concern and strong desire to offer our utmost assistance at this tragic time." The statement also notes, "Already MHI has launched initiatives to do everything within its capabilities to help achieve recovery in the affected regions as quickly as possible, including the dispatch of company engineers, provision of material support, etc. We will continue to do everything we can in the coming days to help respond to the needs of victims and all others affected by this tragic disaster."

Mr. Hasegawa concluded, "We have been particularly touched by the genuine concern expressed by our employees here in the United States, our colleagues, friends and customers who have demonstrated in word and deed their solidarity with the people of Japan at this extraordinary time.  It underscores our mutual respect and shared values as we gather our collective strength to help the survivors regain their future."
