MUNICH, GERMANY – March 23, 2011: BMW will expand its successful 1 Series Coupé line-up with the introduction of a new model priced from $47,400.

The BMW 120i Coupé, powered by a 115kW four-cylinder engine with double VANOS and Valvetronic technology, will arrive in May, and joins the 123d,125i and 135i M Sport in the 1 Series Coupé line-up.

First launched back in 2008, the 1 Series Coupé has gone on to become a success story for BMW with over 2900 sales in Australia. Together with the Convertible, which also arrived in 2008, total sales for the new models topped 6100 units.

One in five sports cars below $80,000 delivered last year in Australia wore a BMW badge thanks to the immense popularity of the 1 Series Coupé and Convertible models.

BMW also led this sports car segment comprehensively in 2008.

Despite becoming the most affordable BMW Coupé offered for sale in Australia, the new BMW 120i Coupé features the typical high level of BMW specification.

Standard equipment includes 17-inch light-alloy wheels, sports seats with electric backrest, Boston leather upholstery, sports leather steering wheel, cruise control, rear parking sensors, fog lights, ambient lighting package, 60:40 split-fold rear seats, storage compartment package, rain sensor, Bluetooth, USB, 6-speaker stereo system and BMW’s full complement of active and passive safety equipment including brake force display as well as warning triangle and first aid kit.

Dealers are now taking orders for the BMW 120i Coupé with first cars arriving in May.
