Sebring, March 15, 2011: Three times Victorian Formula Ford Champ, Luke Ellery has landed in America for an all out attack on the 2011 US F2000 National Championship.
After fellow Australian’s Daniel Erickson and Nathan Morcom withdrew from the event during the final hours, Luke Ellery remains as Australia’s sole representative in the prestigious Road To Indy ladder system.
The young Australian arrived at the track today in preparation for tomorrows first day of practice (Tuesday, 15th March). Re-uniting with his JDC Motorsports team for the first time in 5 months, Ellery is excited on the prospect of attending the first 2 rounds of the National Championship.
“I have itchy feet today looking at my ride for 2011, there has been months of organisation in getting to this point. Being the only Aussie in the field I am pumped to race against some of the world’s best junior drivers, including guys like Wayne Boyd, who won the British Formula Ford Championship in 2008. Having driven the cars before I am a lot more prepared than last year, however with absolutely no testing under my belt it’s definitely going to be tough!” Stated Ellery.
Ellery made his American Debut with the team last season at Road Atlanta, and experienced huge success in his first F2000 event. Ellery placed his JDC Motorsports Van Dieman on the front row of the grid, and led the field through the first lap until a coolant leak ended his race prematurely. He backed up that effort in the final race of the weekend, with a thrilling charge to finish 3rd after starting down the field.
