Celebrating Success - The IMI Recognizes Skillmiles Winners

HERTFORD, UNITED KINGDOM – March 15, 2011: The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) celebrated the achievements of automotive companies and individuals in the Skillmiles scheme at its Annual Dinner last week in the presence of the Institute's Patron, HRH Prince Michael of Kent.
The prestigious annual event held at The Landmark hotel in London was attended by over 400 industry professionals with the awards hosted by Sarah Sillars OBE, Executive Chair of the IMI.
Now in its third year, the Skillmiles scheme enables the IMI to demonstrate to the industry, employers and Government the valuable contribution many companies and individuals in the sector are making to aid skills development. The level of support received has been tremendous with participants from large, medium and small organisations.
Seven awards were presented on the night to the companies or individuals
who had finished at the top of their respective categories, the winners
were:
Speaking at the awards, Sarah Sillars said:
"Congratulations to all
those who have won awards this evening but huge thanks and praise must go
to all the contributors who have supported the IMI to support the wider
industry. In the three years since the scheme was launched, the number of
participants has grown to over 200 and we have allocated nearly 364,000
Skillmiles. This represents a cash sum of £3.65million devoted to the
training and development of those working in the sector. A fantastic
achievement for all those involved."
The Annual Dinner is an opportunity for the Institute to showcase the work and achievements of the previous year and also set out our agenda for the year ahead. To mark the advent of an exciting new chapter the evening was used to launch a new an updated corporate image for the IMI which includes a refreshed website. Our new look is fresh, professional and bold which reflects the dynamic and innovative nature of our work.
