Entire MG Lola Collection offered for sale
February 25, 2011: It is not often that an entire stable of thoroughbred sportscars comes onto the market at the same time, but as Mike Newton and the RML AD Group squad prepare for the start of the new Le Mans Series season, the CEO of AD Group has decided to offer his entire MG sportscar collection for sale.
All four cars have raced at Le Mans in one guise or another, and the set includes both the ex-works MG Lola EX257s that the factory entered in the 24 Hours of 2001 and 2002. One of those, now in the distinctive red, white and blue RML colour scheme, raced there again in 2004. Also included is the open-topped MG Lola EX264 that took class honours in 2005, winning at Le Mans with Mike Newton, Thomas Erdos and Warren Hughes. The final chassis in the quartet is the current Le Mans Series title-winning Lola HPD, but this first saw service as the MG Lola EX265c before competing at Le Mans in 2009 with a Mazda engine. All the original MG bodywork for the coupé is offered in the sale, enabling the avid collector to re-create a full set of MG Lola prototypes.
Although the EX257s are both fully race-ready, neither could be considered "current". By contrast, both the EX264 and the Lola HPD could readily be prepared for competition in this year's Le Mans Series or ALMS. Each car is offered for sale individually, or as a complete heritage collection.
A detailed history of the collection can be explored on the team website MG Lola Collection.
