With a maximum of five stars as the outcome of the crash tests performed for the European Euro NCAP, the Honda CR-Z has proven to be one of the safest vehicles around. The high score is the result of Honda’s continuing commitment to safety and that is why Honda uses the slogan ‘Safety for everybody’ when developing cars. It does not only mean the focus is on the protection of the driver, but also on the passengers in the car and other road users as well as vulnerable pedestrians.
The recognition of Honda’s overall safety technology, that the company is using for many years now, is reflected in the new standards that Euro NCAP uses since 2009, to determine the score. Which is based on a weighed average of various safety aspects. The protection of adults counts for 50 per cent, that of children and pedestrians each count for 20 per cent and the safety equipment of the tested model for 10 per cent.
The effectiveness of this philosophy is proven by the fact that all Honda’s that have been tested since the introduction of the new Euro NCAP system achieved the highest rating of five stars. It concerns the following models: Civic, Accord, Jazz (Fit in the US), Insight and CR-Z.
