Auto Central January 6, 2010; Mike Ramsey writing for the Wall Street Journal reported today about two technologies that are changing the car industry mold.
The first is the use of carbon fibers that can replace steel while maintaing stregnth but with a reduction of 25% in weight. The example of use is in BMW's MegaCity electric vehicle which has been made 20% throiugh the use of carbon fibre body parts.
The article also discussed the use of ultracapacitors which someday could replace batteries in hybrid-electric vehicles and enhance batteries in all electric vehicles.
A sidebar story focused on the Scuderi Engine and how it could increase MPG buy 50%.
